Toyota / Lexus – List of Models / Cars

Toyota / Lexus Recall 2010 – List of Models / Cars. It’s a case of déjà vu all over again, as the world’s largest auto manufacturer, Toyota, suffers yet another possible massive recall disaster.

The company has already recalled more than 8 million autos across the globe because of brake and acceleration difficulties suffered in many models.

Now comes the news that Toyota is thinking about recalling the high-end Lexus LS460 luxury vehicle. Apparently the engine can stall and may, or may not, restart. Figures reveal that there may be as many as 90,000 of these vehicles affected in Japan alone, with probably double that spread around the rest of the world.

Engines are affected by a small but significant valve spring, and a host of Toyota vehicles, Lexus GS 450h, Lexus GS 350, Lexus IS 350, Lexus GS 460, Lexus LS 600h, Lexus LS 460, and the Toyota Crown are involved.

The company says that they have received no reports of any incidents or accidents in relation to the engine problem.

Hot new cars coming soon

The glitzy concept cars may have taken most of the limelight at the Paris show, but they’re not the whole story. Motor shows have traditionally been places where car manufacturers can display their current and future wares – and that’s still the case today. Yahoo! Cars has picked the top cars revealed at the recent Paris Motor Show that you will be able to buy in showrooms shortly.

Paris picture special: Hot new cars coming soon
Audi A1 1.4 TFSI S Line
On sale date: 2011
We thought it would be called the S1, but Audi proved us wrong. The hottest A1 yet is known as the A1 1.4 TFSI S Line – which is a bit of a mouthful. Even so, it features a 183bhp 1.4-litre engine, which makes it capable of 0-62mph in 6.9 seconds, and a top speed of 141mph.

BMW X3
On sale date: November
The latest BMW X3 impressed us when we drove it earlier in the year in pre-production format. It’s much more spacious than the outgoing model and better looking. Prices are lower, it’s better to drive and you get more for your money.

Paris picture special: Hot new cars coming soon
Citroen C4
On sale date: Early 2011
Citroen has its work cut out for it with the C4, as it has to go head-to-head with the Ford Focus, VW Golf and Vauxhall Astra. It looks sharp though, and there’s an e-HDi ‘micro-hybrid’ version boasting 109g/km and 64.2mpg.

Paris picture special: Hot new cars coming soon
Citreon DS4
On sale date: 2011
The second new-generation DS model is the DS4 crossover. It’s a distinctive-looking car and promises buyers a smart, upmarket interior. It will have to be good to steal sales from the popular Nissan Qashqai, though.

Paris picture special: Hot new cars coming soon
Ford Focus
On sale date: 2011
An all-new Focus will replace the incredibly successful existing model next year, so it has big shoes to fill. The Focus ST hot hatch also made its debut at Paris and will go on sale in 2012 – it’s powered by a 2.0-litre 247bhp EcoBoost engine.

Paris picture special: Hot new cars coming soon
Honda Jazz Hybrid
On sale date: Early 2011
Honda claims to have invented the world’s first hybrid supermini in the Jazz Hybrid. It uses the same 1.3-litre engine and electric power system as the Honda Insight and promises 62.4mpg and 104g/km.

Paris picture special: Hot new cars coming soon
Range Rover Evoque
On sale date: Summer 2011
You can’t have missed the Range Rover Evoque. In front-wheel drive guise it will offer 58mpg and less than 130g/km, rendering it the most efficient Range Rover ever, but it will still be just as plush inside.

Lexus CT 200h
On sale date: March 2010
Starting price: £23,485
Toyota’s luxury arm, Lexus, has developed an entry-level hybrid model that’s set to rival the Audi A3 and the BMW 1 Series. Expect 134bhp from the 1.8-litre engine and hybrid system, along with 68.9mpg and 96g/km,

Mercedes Benz CLS

Merc’s four-door coupé has been given a new body after seven years in production. It’s still a great-looking car and offers the same mix of svelte looks and saloon car-style practicality.

Paris picture special: Hot new cars coming soon
Peugeot 508
On sale date: early 2011
The 508 saloon will replace Peugeot’s existing 407 and 607 when it goes on sale next year. An eco-friendly e-HDi version will feature, along with a four-wheel drive HYbrid4 variant.

Paris picture special: Hot new cars coming soon
Peugeot 3008 HYbrid4
On sale date: Spring 2011
This is the very first diesel hybrid car. It’s powered by a 163bhp 2.0-litre HDi diesel engine and a 37bhp electric motor at the rear. That also makes it four-wheel drive and means 74.4mpg and 99g/km.

Paris picture special: Hot new cars coming soon
Volkswagen Passat
On sale date: January 2011
It’s not hugely different to look at in comparison to its predecessor, but the VW Passat is a big seller, so a new version is always important. A 1.6-litre BlueMotion variant will offer 69mpg.

Paris picture special: Hot new cars coming soon
Porsche 911 Speedster
On sale date: January 2011
The latest Speedster is an homage to the namesake Porsche launched in 1953. The double bubble roof cover and black stone guards hark back to Porsches of old and it features a 402bhp 3.8-litre engine.

Ferrari SA APERTA
On sale date: Sold out already!
Essentially a convertible version of the Ferrari 599, the SA APERTA is no less a stunner and pumps out an incredible 661bhp. Don’t get too excited though, as only 80 will be made and they’ve all been sold already.

Renault paid for information that led to EV spying complaint

nd us a Letter to the Editor

PARIS (Reuters) -- Renault paid 250,000 euros ($347,200) for information that sparked a probe into suspected industrial espionage, its lawyer said.

Company executives don't know the identity of the person who sold information to the carmaker, Renault's lawyer Jean Reinhart told Reuters earlier today.

Renault fired three executives and lodged a legal complaint in January over suspected spying at its electric vehicle program but has since admitted it may have been tricked.

The carmaker wants its two security managers -- the only people who know the informant's identity -- to give the details to French police, Reinhart said.

He confirmed that Renault had paid around 250,000 euros for the information, probably to an intermediary who had passed on all or part of it to the informant.

"Renault does not know the identity of the informant," Reinhart said. "We have asked our two security managers, who are the only ones who know, to give this person's name and address to the investigators."

French media had previously reported the two were refusing to reveal the person's name, while a police source said France's DCRI domestic intelligence agency, which is investigating the matter, had repeatedly interviewed them in recent days.

Renault had in January asked all employees to cooperate completely with the investigators, Reinhart said.

COO's job at risk

The person who provided the information on which Renault based its legal claim is thought to be an independent private investigator that the carmaker contacted through a then employee of private security company Geos.

The case strained relations between Renault, which is 15 percent state-owned, and the government, as the carmaker came under fire for not informing authorities of its suspicions soon enough and carrying out its own investigation first amid fears information had been leaked to a foreign power.

Bank accounts in Switzerland and Liechtenstein are a key part of the inquiry and information on whether or not they exist is expected to emerge from the official investigation shortly.

All three fired executives have said they have done nothing wrong and are taking legal action against Renault.

Chief Operating Officer Patrick Pelata last week hinted that his own job may be at risk, when he said the company would accept all the consequences "up to the highest level of the company, that is to say up to myself."

The case threatened to spark a diplomatic spat when news of the firings broke in January, after a government source said investigators were following up a possible link with China in initial probes before a formal inquiry was launched.

Renault and the government both played down the China talk.

Scion reveals better looking, more powerful 2011 tC

New York 2010: Scion reveals better looking, more powerful 2011 tC

The big reveal for Scion at the 2010 New York Auto Show is staring you square in the face. Meet the 2011 tC. Scion describes the car as defining "refined aggression." They called it, "masculine," too. Even though the new car borrows fairly heavily from the 2006 Fuse concept (not to mention the outgoing tC), our collective jury is still out on the refined aggression part. But we’ll go ahead and agree that the new model does indeed look more masculine, which is good for Scion, as the tC demographic not only skews young (most youthful in the industry it turns out), but very male as well.

As for what’s new, the engine is now a 2.5-liter I-4, up from 2.4 liters. Power is up as well. The new tC ships with a respectable 180 horsepower and 173 pound-feet of torque. That’s plus 19 ponies and 11 pound feet. The suspension is now "sport tuned" and the power steering is electronic, which Scion assured us better allows the engineers to dial in more steering feel. Uh-huh.

The new tC also gets better gas mileage than the previous car (no word yet on exactly how much better) and comes with two new transmissions. There’s a six-speed automatic that features sequential-shift (Scion-speak for a manual shift mode) as well asa six-speed manual that promises more refined shifting than the old five-speed.

Other goodies include 18-inch wheels and larger tires, bigger brake rotors (Scion claimed 16-inch rotors front and back during the press conference, but that’s... insane) and a flat-bottom steering wheel. The tC has been our favorite Scion ever since Scion replaced the fist-gen xB with the fatter second-gen model. As such, it looks as if we have a new favorite.
